Here's a list of all of the classic social media hooks and what they really mean.
"People often ask me..."
👉 No one asks me this. It's just what I want to talk about now.
"Someone once said..."
👉 It was me. I said it. I'm just using a vague appeal to authority.
"I have always known..."
👉 I learned this yesterday.
"I [did this amazing thing] and here's how you can too..."
👉 I'm about to teach you how to hire me.
"I'm going to show you my biggest secret for [interesting thing]."
👉 This stopped working a few weeks ago, might as well use it to juice my following.
"How to [do something valuable] without [investing any time/effort/energy/money]..."
👉 I'm a scam artist.
"I Just made $$$, using [strategy]. Here's what I did..."
👉 I'm probably (definitely) not going to show you my COGs. I probably spent $999k to get into the two-comma club. Gross revenue is a vanity metric.
"Here are the best people to follow in [Industry]..."
👉 Here are all of the people I'm trying to network with right now.
"How I went from [desperate situation] to [amazing situation] in [very little time]..."
👉 I'm definitely not going to tell you the whole story...
"[Famous person] did [amazing thing], here's how..."
👉 I'm just as smart as said person is given. I've been able to reverse-engineer their success. Also, you'll now associate them with me.

This is a shots fired episode, so hopefully I'm not
Kasim:gonna make too many enemies.
Kasim:But as we start to build out our social following a little bit more,
Kasim:I'm noticing a pattern in the way that some of these hooks are being used.
Kasim:And, what I did is I, I went ahead and decoded some of these hooks for you.
Kasim:So there's what people say.
Kasim:And then there's what they mean.
Kasim:I'm going to decode social media clickbait for you right now today.
Kasim:the first and one of my favorite, you see politicians do this all the time.
Kasim:people often ask me how I've became the best Google Ads agency.
Kasim:and really what this means is nobody asks me this.
Kasim:I just wanna talk about this right now.
Kasim:it's the best prompt a response that you've been gearing up to
Kasim:when nobody ever actually, because here's the thing, if somebody.
Kasim:Actually asked them this.
Kasim:Generally speaking, they, they'd have a better catalyst, which would
Kasim:be, Hey, this person asked me.
Kasim:And then that starts the conversation organically.
Kasim:But instead the opaque cloud of nebulous.
Kasim:People over there often ask me which is code four, you should be interested
Kasim:in this because many people have asked me this question, so if you ever see
Kasim:people often ask me, you, no, I just have an ax to grind, which, Leads me to
Kasim:my next one, which is someone once said, did they said that or did you say that?
Kasim:And you wanna borrow from authority but you don't have a proper citation
Kasim:because if someone said that and that someone was important, we'd
Kasim:know their name cuz we have Google.
Kasim:So someone once said is you once said, and you're using a vague
Kasim:appeal, appeal to authority or Nobody said, and you're just lying.
Kasim:Another one I've always known that means you learned it yesterday.
Kasim:You haven't always known this.
Kasim:I insert an amazing thing here and here's how you can too.
Kasim:Almost always means I'm about to teach you how to hire me.
Kasim:I do this for a living and you probably could do it too, but I'm definitely
Kasim:not gonna give you all the information.
Kasim:I'm just gonna give you enough to know that you probably need to hire me.
Kasim:My next one, going to show you my biggest secret for.
Kasim:Insert thing that needs a secret here, which probably means this
Kasim:stopped working a few weeks ago.
Kasim:So now I'm gonna go juice.
Kasim:My following one that boils my bud the most is how to do something
Kasim:valuable without investing any time, effort, energy, or money.
Kasim:You see this on time, how to roll your list without sending emails, cold
Kasim:calling or doing anything, period.
Kasim:And this just means I'm a scam artist.
Kasim:I am a liar and you should ignore me.
Kasim:I just made X amount of dollars using this strategy.
Kasim:Here's what I did.
Kasim:that means that I'm definitely not gonna show you my cost of goods because you can
Kasim:spend $999,000 making a million dollars and go get a two Comma Club award, which
Kasim:by the way is how a lot of people do it.
Kasim:It's how they do that.
Kasim:It still looks like you made a million dollars and technically, I guess you did.
Kasim:Here are the best people to follow in this industry.
Kasim:Means I'm about to show you all the people that I'm trying to network with
Kasim:right now, and I'm gonna go drop their names so they feel warm and fuzzy.
Kasim:I've done this.
Kasim:I'm guilty.
Kasim:How I went from desperate situation to amazing situation.
Kasim:Very little time means you're not gonna get the whole story.
Kasim:You're gonna get a very truncated version of the story that I
Kasim:used to tell you something.
Kasim:last but not least, famous person did.
Kasim:Amazing thing.
Kasim:And here's how, Elon Musk revolutionized the car industry.
Kasim:And here the tools that he used or the steps that he took, and all you're
Kasim:doing here is you're stealing authority.
Kasim:And now it's like, I want you to think I am as, as smart as Elon Musk.
Kasim:Cause I've reverse engineered what it is he did.
Kasim:And I'm not trying to, I'm not trying to be mean, right?
Kasim:Because I've, I've used most, if not all of these.
Kasim:But it is kind of funny when you start to sort of.
Kasim:You see the patterns and you crack the code.
Kasim:It'd be interesting, the ones that you see.
Kasim:What do you see people saying, doing, feeling online.
Kasim:What are the codes that we need to interpret protect us
Kasim:from each other and ourselves.
